We are Authorised Dealers of Reliance Industries Ltd. for Diethylene Glycol.
Diethylene Glycol is a by-product in the manufacture of Monoethylene glycol produced by EO hydrolysis. Diethylene glycol is a colourless liquid with a high boiling point. DEG is practically odourless and sweetish to taste. It is considerably hygroscopic in nature. DEG is miscible with water, alcohol, ether, acetone but is insoluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride.
It is used in Unsaturated Polyester Resins, Coolants, Pesticides, Rubber Compounding, Plasticizer, Polyurethane Foams, Textile Auxiliaries, Polyethylene Glycols, Paints etc.
DEG can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers. It can be stored in MS containers lined with baked phenolic resin / air drying epoxy phenolic resin or vinyl resin. It is advisable to store Diethylene Glycol DEG in a cool, dry place with good ventilation – away from heat, sparks or flames.
Features of Diethylene Glycol :
Applications of Diethylene Glycol :
Polyester resins derived from DEG are flexible in nature. They are used as low pressure laminates for glass fibres, asbestos, cloth and paper.
DEG can be used in cooling systems as it increases the boiling temperature considerably there by enabling the coolant perform more effectively in carrying off the excess heat generated by auto engines.
DEG is primarily used to encapsulate granules of phorate pesticide.
For coloured rubber products such as hawai chappals, DEG is used as an additive along with silica filler compounds to prevent the absorption of other ingredients such as the accelerator used in the rubber compounds.
Benzoic acid is esterified with Diethylene Glycol DEG to produce DEG Dibenzoate . It finds an application as plasticizer in PVC Compounds , PVA adhesives and moulded urethanes.
DEG reacts with EO to form higher polyethylene glycols which find application in pharmaceutical, brake fluids, cosmetics.
Diethylene Glycol DEG is used as a modifier in the manufacture of alkyd resins used in formulating paints.
DEG is Used as a grinding aid in Cement industry, in order to achieve higher fineness and smooth mill operations, increase throughput and also reduces energy consumption.
