Description

Morpholine is an organic chemical compound having the chemical formulaO(CH2CH2)2NH. This heterocycle, pictured at right, features both amine and etherfunctional groups. Because of the amine, Morpholine is a base; its conjugate acid is called morpholinium. Morpholine is an important building block for rubber chemicals and finds a multitude of applications in other industries. Morpholine is used as an intermediate for water treatment, the production of pharmaceutical and agrocultural products as well as optical brightners. Morpholine is a common additive, in parts per million concentrations, for pH adjustment in both fossil fuel and nuclear power plant steam systems. Morpholine is used because itsvolatility is about the same as water, so once it is added to the water, its concentration becomes distributed rather evenly in both the water and steam phases. Morpholine undergoes most chemical reactions typical for other secondary amines, though the presence of the ether oxygen withdraws electron density from the nitrogen, rendering it less nucleophilic (and less basic) than structurally similar secondary amines such as piperidine. We are one of the Leading Importers & Suppliers of Morpholine in India.

Properties & Applications :

  • Morpholine is colorless liquid with amine odor, specific weight is 0.9994, melting point is -4.9 °C, boiling point is 128 °C, and soluble in water, ethanol and ether, medium alkalinity
  • Morpholine is an intermediate for many chemicals
  • Morpholine is used in the manufacture of rubber accelerator, curing agent , cleaning agent, anti-rust agent, surface-active agent etc
  • It is an additive used in PPM concentrations, pH adjustment in both fossil fuel and nuclear power plant steam systems
  • Having the same volatility as water, it is used as concentration becomes distributed rather evenly in both the water and steam phases
  • Its pH adjusting qualities are distributed throughout the steam plant to provide corrosion protection.
