Epoxy Resin

Description

Epoxy Resins are a class of reactive polymers containing epoxide groups. When these epoxy resins are cured through a reaction with a hardener (curing agent), they form a rigid, durable material that is widely used in various applications. The Epoxy Resin which we manufacture is highly demanded for their quality. We offer a wide range of resins, from low viscosity to high viscosity.

These materials typically consist of two parts: an epoxy resin and a hardener. When mixed, they form a covalent bond that is extremely strong and is very difficult to break… The time it takes for resin to harden, or “cure,” varies by product. This curing process results in polymers with distinct properties, depending on the specific resin and hardener used.

Types of Epoxy Resins

Each type of epoxy resin has unique properties and is chosen based on the specific requirements of the application, including mechanical strength, chemical resistance, thermal stability, and ease of processing. Mentioned below are some of their types:

  • Liquid Epoxy Resin (BPA Type): Contains Bisphenol-A as basic raw material. They are unmodified Di-Glycidyl Ethers based on Bisphenol-A.
  • Solvent Cut Epoxy Resin: These are epoxy resins that have been thinned or diluted with solvents to adjust their viscosity or improve their application characteristics. Solvents are added to epoxy resins to achieve specific goals such as easier handling, better flow during application, or to reduce the resin’s thickness for certain uses.
  • Liquid Epoxy Resin (BPF Type):  Bisphenol F (BPF) epoxy resins are a type of epoxy resin where the base compound used is Bisphenol F. Bisphenol F is structurally similar to Bisphenol A (BPA) but has different properties and characteristics. Due to concerns about the potential health risks associated with Bisphenol A (BPA), there has been increased interest in BPF epoxy resins as they offer similar performance benefits without the same level of environmental and health-related concerns.
  • Phenol Novolac Epoxy Resins: Phenol Novolac Epoxy Resins are synthesized using phenol novolac as a base compound. Novolac resins are formed by the condensation reaction of phenol with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst. When these novolac resins are further reacted with epichlorohydrin, they form phenol novolac epoxy resins. Their properties make them a preferred choice in industries where durability and reliability are paramount, although they may require careful handling due to their higher reactivity compared to other resins.
  • Cycloaliphatic Epoxy Resins: Cycloaliphatic epoxy resins are distinguished by their chemical structure, which includes cycloaliphatic rings. These resins are synthesized by reacting cycloaliphatic epoxides with various curing agents, such as amines or acids, to form a cross-linked polymer network.
  • Modified Liquid Epoxy Resin (BPA Type): These are based on Bisphenol-A. They are modified by Reactive Diluents to achieve a certain property.
  • Solid Epoxy Resin (Powder Coating Epoxy Resin): They are is specifically formulated for use in powder coating applications. Powder coating is a dry finishing process where finely ground particles of pigment and resin are electrostatically charged and sprayed onto a surface. The charged particles adhere to the electrically grounded object and are then melted and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven.
  • Waterborne Epoxy Resins: This is a type of epoxy resin that is dispersed or emulsified in water. Unlike traditional solvent-based resins, waterborne resins use water as the primary solvent medium for dispersion. They are designed to offer several advantages over solvent-based epoxy resins, particularly in terms of environmental friendliness, ease of application, and safety considerations.
